The Ohio Club, located in Hot Springs, Arkansas, holds the distinction of being the state's oldest continuously operating bar, with a history dating back to its establishment in 1905. Originally opened as a bar and casino, it became a notorious speakeasy during the Prohibition era, masquerading as the "Ohio Cigar Store" to continue its illicit gambling and alcohol services. The club's colorful past is deeply intertwined with its frequent patrons, which included infamous mobsters like Al Capone, Lucky Luciano, and Bugsy Siegel, as well as celebrated figures such as baseball legend Babe Ruth. Today, The Ohio Club maintains its historic atmosphere with a massive, hand-carved mahogany bar from the 1880s and displays of gangster and gambling-related artifacts. It remains a popular venue for live music, attracting both tourists and locals who are drawn to its storied and lively legacy.
